9/30/16: Sick Domination

  1. 9/30/16 Friday
    1. Woke up late, trying to get a little more sleep.
    2. Scrambled to do SPS PhysCon logistics, late to class. But it was a derivation I’d seen before.
    3. Headed to SPS. Kyle is now in, and in the course of conversation we got Justin to register for PhysCon. Justin has a car, and we now plan to drive to PhysCon--should be fun. Jacob arrived and we wrote applications for all the awards. Spent a lot of time on it.
    4. Justin sounded interested in the Stanford game so we went down to the ticket office to see if we could get him a ticket. Alas it was closed and the game ticket booth was out of student tickets. On the way, I helped an older lady get to a bus stop. She was very lost and confused but very nice.
    5. Returned to house, finally ate lunch. I was STARVING and chowed down on the tandoori leftovers from dinner with Chase. Tandoori sandwiches were boss.
    6. Went up to my room intending to work on hw, ended up just doing more logistics, making an assignment spreadsheet, bookmarking class websites, reading syllabi… was kinda depressing. I love trying to do everything, but when I get bogged down in the everything pile of logistics that doing everything involves, ugh.
    7. Off to Stanford game! Amazingly, nobody in my close friend group is into football. Maybe if I’d hassled them a week before Brandon and Xin would have gone; nobody in the 2104 house was going except Ben, who was planning to sit in the Stanford section (?!) cuz he was from California; nobody from the SPS was going except Jacob W.; and the Swing Kids were apparently all at the Red Square Jam which was scheduled at the same time (?!?!).
    8. Dude from Dawgs Crew who was planning to go hadn’t got a ticket but he was down to meet up beforehand. So we walked through the tailgaters and tossed the rock for a little while. Good fun.
    9. Entered the stadium, decided, since I wasn’t going with anyone--could try to find Jacob Watkins, probably should have, but it was so packed--just to sit in my assigned seat. It was far back but I had a beautiful view of the lake. Made friends with two girls sitting next to me.
    10. The game was a total blowout, which was unbelievable. Stanford looked rattled, the quarterback couldn’t take the pressure. Our offense, especially our runningbacks, were on fire. Lots of fun to watch.
    11. Returned to 2104 in high spirits, jogging, to find free pizza due to some unknown benefactor waiting for me. Hung out with Xin and Zezhou (Xin’s visitor who I knew from physics, plus Evan). Evan had joked about busing to get a barbeque with me but he seemed actually kinda serious. He was! We’re going to get it tomorrow, if the double-checking with Dei about a propane grill works out. (Charcoal grill was gone but we found a sweet propane model even closer for $15).
    12. Also have a meetup at the prof’s house for Creating a Company tomorrow. Should be fun! Good night all :D
