1. UW
Update Sunday 4/19/15
a. A
very pleasant, well-rounded day. Woke at noon-ish, showered, and walked down to
the 8 for brunch. Randomly met Xin and Donovan there, and agreed to tennis
after eating. Played with Nico, a friendly student who’s transferring to the
University of Arizona for Mining Engineering (bored with business and the
competitive-feeling atmosphere of the UW) He rejoiced over crushing us, who he
called the “honors kids” because he lived on the Honors floor but was not in
the program.
b. Returned
to dorm, did the physics prelab and some linear hw. Then spent some time
reviewing the requirements for physics, CS, math majors and the
entrepreneurship minor, and emailed advisors in the Physics and CS depts. to
set up appointments. On a lark, did a quick search to see if there was any
possibility I could get to Whitman by bus for Grace’s renaissance fair next
weekend, but it looked pretty impossible.
c. Xin
and I walked down to the Ave and tried University Teriyaki. I liked it a lot,
especially the pork bulgogi (unfortunately in the $10 vs. $7 range). To get his
mind off classes, I questioned him about life in China.
d. Returned
to dorm, did physics reading, set up some lunches.
e. Went
down to Denny Field and got into a full-court game. It was a lot of fun.
f.
Returned to dorm, grabbed Ricks, and read The
Martian for a while. Took a shower, wrote this log, and went to bed.
