Update Friday 1/9/15
i. Woke,
breakfasted on the 8’s oatmeal with Eleanor and Sasha Really good oatmeal!
ii. Headed
to physics. We did some interesting integrals to compute the charge due to
objects, and talked about capacitors.
iii. Read
Freire for teaching class and read up on the Resident Advisor position in the
SPS. Wrote an email to the teaching class professor about the similarities
between Freire and Finite and Infinite
Games, which I’d read over break.
iv. Headed
over to Orin’s Place in Paccar and met up with Wyatt, last quarter’s Honors 100
peer instructor, to talk about being a RA. Inconvenienced him for nearly an
hour with my questions, got useful information. There are some weird things
about having a relationship of slight authority over residents, but I think the
position has a lot of potential to improve residents’ lives.
v. Returned
to dorm, read more Freire, watched bit of documentary for cow class.
vi. Took
a long nap. My sore throat and cough had expanded, following the usual pattern,
into sinus congestion, and I hope to squash the illness with sleep.
vii. Woke
up and headed to dinner. A bunch of us (Sasha, Eleanor, Noah, Xin, Jamie,
August, Jade, Abum) headed to Thai Tom’s on the Ave. Thai Tom’s is a small place,
so we were seated at 3 separate tables. The food was good, but fairly
expensive.
viii.
Returned to dorm and settled down to write RA
applications. Handed out a few more plates with cookies. Did a lot of
brainstorming.
ix. Skyped
with family for about half an hour.
x. Wrote
the first of four essay prompts for the RA application.
xi. Brushed
teeth, wrote log, went to bed.
