- 4/5/16
- Slept really well. Did some reading then went to Math.
- Grabbed lunch at the food trucks with Miranda, a fellow physics/CS major (actually she’s tripling in math vs. just doing the minor :D). I had bumped into her in the HUB a couple days ago and figured we should meet up.
- We talked for a good while. After a bit, Miranda beckoned over a third CS/Physics major by the name of John (apparently the only other one Miranda knew). We got to talking about Scott Aaronson’s paper about NP-hardness as a fundamental feature of physical reality--John had attended a talk by Aaronson the summer before. Then Prof. Barash, who taught the polygamy seminar fall, walked by, and we chatted. I’m debating whether or not to join his class this quarter, on demilitarization in Costa Rica.
- THEN some random homeschooled math grad student (name of Clayton) overheard Miranda and I talking about our homeschool pasts. So we talked for a while, a bit about his research in statistics, brownian motion. Overall, a neat afternoon!
- Returned to Haggett, did work for 333. Decided to go climbing; hit the IMA for a good 2 hours. Back in time to do some reading before Glee, but not much :(
- Glee was great. I was all pumped from climbing, Ryan was on top of his game during the warmup, and we killed the new song we were learning.
- Wesley and I walked back to the 8 for dinner, where we encountered the remnants of the housing group we’d both abandoned, standing outside and chatting after the traditional Taco Tuesday dinner. Talked with Max for a while; he’s doing research and taking some tough math + EE. The bunch of us talked about circuits, networks, etc. until Brandon showed up 20 minutes late to join me and Wesley; then the three of us proceeded inside for dinner.
- After dinner, back again to the Hag; my energy levels were falling, so I packed up my s**tuff and walked to the CSE building. Sent emails, finished Thermal homework, and wrote this log.
